Kenton Cool

With 17 Everest summits and a list of global mountaineering achievements, Kenton has built a reputation as one of the world’s most sought-after mountain guides. Being one of the global elite IFMGA guides, Kenton provides a guiding service that is second to none.

Kenton experienced first-hand the invaluable service the TP:247 can offer in an emergency.

After enduring a wet and challenging jungle trek to the remote Carstensz Pyramid in Papua, Kenton and his team were facing a dire situation. Heavy rain and storms made their heli pickup impossible, leaving them with a 12-hour hike to a guarded gold and copper mine. Their communication equipment was useless due to flat batteries and a water-damaged laptop. However, Kenton had the foresight to carry a TP:247. Using the hand crank, he powered up his iridium sat phone to call the mine and, utilising GPS for navigation, they ultimately found their way back to civilisation. The TP:247 proved to be their crucial lifeline and helped to demonstrate the potentially life-saving capabilities of the device.

“This is an amazing bit of kit; I don’t travel without it now. It has been everywhere with me from the mountains to the jungles.”

Fay Manners

Fay is a British alpinist who resides in Chamonix. Her interest in mountaineering was ignited during a trip to North Wales in the UK, and she soon moved to Chamonix to pursue her passion. Fay has been climbing and ski mountaineering ever since, and even during the pandemic when lifts were closed, she successfully climbed several challenging alpine routes starting from the Chamonix valley.

In recent years, Fay has achieved several remarkable feats, including the first female ascent of the Phantom Direct route on the south face of the Grand Jorasses, the longest ice route in the Mont Blanc massif. She has also climbed the North Face of the Eiger, the American Direct on the Dru, the Walker Spur on the Grandes Jorasses, and the Cassin Ridge on Denali as part of an all-female team. Fay's goal is to inspire women, particularly young girls in the U.K., to pursue their interest in alpinism. With the leverage gained from her professional climbing career, she aims to promote mountaineering as a recreational hobby for girls, encouraging them to transition from indoor climbing to the great outdoors.

As a mountaineer, Fay has tested the TP:247 on the face of xx. The rugged and waterproof features of the TP:247 allowed her to continually charge her GPS devices out on the slopes.

Mountaineer [Fay Manners]: ‘On even the toughest challenges, the resilience and efficiency of the TP:247 make it an essential component of my kit.”

Jeff Allan

At the age of about seven, Jeff started kayaking as a Cub Scout, and later as a Sea Cadet and young soldier in the British Army. After leaving the military in 1987, he pursued traditional boat building in Falmouth, Cornwall, and eventually established the first commercial sea kayaking business in the South West of England.

Using his extensive experience in active expedition paddling, he now operates a unique outfitting service and founded the International Sea Kayak Guide Association in 2012. Jeff frequently speaks at symposiums, trade shows, and clubs worldwide, in addition to being a regular contributor to ocean kayaking magazines.

Jeff is planning on circumnavigating the UK by kayak and will be bringing the TP:247 along for the tour.

“Kayak Adventurer [Jeff Alan]: I always keep a TP:247 stored on long expeditions. It never lets me down and has proven to be invaluable in emergency situations.”
